Always tired - There are numerous reasons both medically and physiologically why some people always feel tired. Many people spend endless hours and large amounts of money going from doctor to doctor. When the doctors cannot determine why their patients are always tired they refer them to a specialist.
Always tired - Often times a specialties can diagnose the person after a battery of test are completed and a night spent in a sleep lab having more tests done the specialist is able to tell the person why they are always tired.
If this is not the case, the specialist will then refer the always tired person to mental health expert either a psychiatrist or a psychologist, to find out if there is a physiological reason for why the person always feels tired.
The approach to this method is by an initial consultation in which the doctor asks the person general questions about their life. The doctor will try to decide if the person is having difficulty sleeping due to an unresolved problem. If this method does not solve the problem as to why the person is always tired. The doctor may decide that it is necessary to continue to see the person and try to uncover a subconscious reason for constant tiredness.
If the problem is not resolved as to why the person always feels tired they go back to their family doctor, where the battery of tests will begin again. The doctor will again check the person’s blood work to make sure all their levels are normal and there are no indications of a serious disease or condition that is affecting the brain and causing the person to lose sleep, which is resulting in their always tired feelings.
The next step would be to do a cat scan of the head/brain or an MRI to make sure nothing is pushing on the area of the brain the control the bodies sleep patterns. Many times a person who suffers from epilepsy will get adequate amounts of rest and still wake up tired. There are numerous reasons why a person is always tired most of which are harmless.
Individuals who suffer from sleep deprivation for prolonged periods of time will develop the always tired syndrome even though they have returned to their “normal” sleep pattern their body needs to have an adequate amount of time to readjust to the normal five phases of sleep again.
The majority of the time, a person who is always tired is dealing with a great deal of stress! By reducing the stress in their life and practicing relaxation techniques such as mediation, yoga and visualization to encourage positive thought patterns and a clearer mind they can reduce the stress that is causing them to always feel tired.
Regardless, of how tired a person feels they should avoid stimulants such as “pep” pills, caffeine loaded energy drinks and other stimulating substances they will end up doing you more harm than good in the long run.
